Cognates

All undergraduates at the University of Miami are required to fulfill three Areas of Knowledge: Arts and Humanities; People and Society; and STEM. They may do so either by declaring a major or a minor in an Area of Knowledge, or by completing a “cognate”—a themed cluster of at least three courses.
